Jeon Soyeon Braces for Criticism Over G-Dragon Cover “MBC Requested It, I Watched My Performance 100 Times”
On February 19, the “Star! Cooking Show” content on the channel “Pixid” featured Soyeon and Mimiminu.
As a well-known BIGBANG fan, Mimiminu excitedly showed off his G-Dragon shoes, saying, “Soyeon, you have to know what these shoes are. If you don’t know, I’ll be disappointed.” In response, Soyeon commented, “Of course, I’m a fan, but more than that, it’s about respect.“
Soyeon then talked about her cover performance of “Power” at the 2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon, revealing, “I had a lot of worries about doing the cover. MBC suddenly asked if I could cover ‘Power’. I really thought about it a lot.”
Hearing this, Mimiminu’s eyes lit up with excitement as he realized “So it was a proposal from the broadcast station. Isn’t this an exclusive reveal?“, making everyone laugh.
Soyeon continued, “Honestly, I was so honored to be given the offer. ‘They want me to do this song?’ That’s so touching. It was a 3 to 4 hour recording session. Even for my own songs, I’m done in 30 minutes. They thought I was debuting as a solo artist. Since I went to the agency to practice so much.”
She added, “Honestly, after covering it, I could get hate for it, but I thought it was worth it. It’s such an honor just to be able to perform it. I feel so honored. I watched my own performance like 100 times.”
Meanwhile, Soyeon will participate as the main producer for P NATION’s new idol girl group.
